April 18 - May 11 The Blacks: A Clown Show (Classic Drama) by Jean Genet
Director: Terrence Spivey
There will be two midnight performances
Friday April 25 and Friday May 2

The Blacks: A Clown Show was written in 1958 at the request of a black actor. But Jean Genet, a white, French novelist and playwright (The Balcony), wrote the drama focusing on a troupe of black actors, who come together to perform a ritual that requires the corpse of a white woman. Originally written for an all-black cast, The Blacks offered a new voice to American theatre. It won an Obie for Best Off Broadway play in 1961.
NOTE: Audience members are required to wear mask for this production (which will be provided by ushers). Discretion is advised due to content, language, and unexpected audience interaction. Do not come alone!

The routines of daily life get blown apart when two brothers take in a plucky young houseguest. While India is running away from her relatively normal family, Chaz is struggling to find normalcy in the one he already has. Is it possible to be your brother's keeper and have a life too?

In an historic collaboration, The Play House is co-producing this World Premiere presented at the Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville this spring. As the major festival of new American plays, Humana has premiered the work of such writers as Arthur Kopit, Tony Kushner, Marsha Norman, Donald Margulies, John Patrick Shanley, and Sarah Ruhl. The Festival attracts audiences from around the world, and three of its plays have won Pulitzer Prizes for Drama.

Organized by the Women’s Auxiliary Board of Stan Hywet, this volunteer-run event is a major fundraiser for the estate; its proceeds are donated to support ongoing restoration and preservation efforts at the Museum.

Stitchery Showcase is presented by the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild and is a juried exhibit of the timeless art of stitchery. Judges in each category (counted thread, canvas, surface stitchery multimedia or quilting) award first, second, third or honorable mention ribbons to entrants. Judging is based on color, design and texture of each piece. The Showcase is open to any needle worker —membership in the Guild is not a requirement.
